Due to importance of safflower and its role as an important oilseed crop in drylands of country and in order to study its situation in dryland farming of province, this study carried out during 2010-2011 with 7 safflower promising genotypes regarding adaptability trials in cold drylands, in fall planting of Shirvan in farmer field under dryland conditions. All genotypes were planted in 6 and 7 November 2010 at Shirvan. Experimental design was RCBD with 3 replications. Each genotype was planted in 8 rows with 5 m length and 30 cm row spacing. Seeding rate was 25 Kg/ha and some notations including thousand kernel weight, number of head per plant and grain yield were made during the growing season. Analysis of variances showed that there was a significant difference between genotypes in terms of thousand kernel weight. Mean comparison of experimental genotypes showed that three genotypes (a hybrid with temporary number 336/287 with 666.7 Kg/ha, lines with temporary number 47 and 367/415 with 631 Kg/ha compare with other genotypes had higher grain yields and relative efficiency which would be released for cold drylands after demonstration and seed multiplication.
