The Heliothis(=Helicoverpa spp.) is a major pest in chickpea fields in Azarbaijan and Kermanshah province. The effects of climatic factors on Helicoverpa spp. population fluctuation and chickpea production losses under rainfed condition was studied on Maragheh and Sararood stations in during 2005-2008. Four promising chickpea cultivars were studied in Maragheh(Jam and ILC482) and sararood(Arman and Hashem). Number of Heliothis larva, number of infected pods, %infected pods, seed yield, 100 kernel weight, hunted bids number by light vamps and crop growing season meteorological details were determined in Maragheh and Sararood locations. Characters were measured on 10 random plants for each entry. Analysis variants and Correlation between these characters and seed yield were calculated. A stepwise regression analysis was also done for seed yield and characters. In Maragheh station results of analysis variants showed that the chickpea lines on number of Heliothis larva, number of infected pods, %infected pods, seed yield and 100 kernel weight were significant. Results showed that correlations of seed yield (r=0.161ns) with number of Heliothis larva were n,t significant and correlations of seed yield (r=0.863**) with number of infected pods were positive and highly significant. Stepwise regression analysis revealed that Average air temperature and precipitation were the most important components of hunted bids number by light vamps. Results showed that due to reduced precipitation(%67) and specific condition in dryland,s , Heliothis bids number has been influenced. In Sararood station results of analysis variants showed that the chickpea lines on number of Heliothis larva, number of infected pods, %infected pods, seed yield and 100 kernel weight were significant. Results showed that correlations of seed yield (r=0.372**) with number of Heliothis larva and correlations of seed yield (r=0.527**) with number of infected pods were positive and highly significant. Stepwise regression analysis revealed that total spring sunny time(H) and precipitation were the most important components of hunted bids number by light vamps. Results showed that due to reduced precipitation and specific condition in dry land , Heliothis bids number has been influenced.
