Study on winter sugar beet in south of Khorasan Razavi Province.

Water deficient is a major problem for crop production in arid and semi _ arid region. in This condition , winter sugar beet is important and considerable ,because of beet production in the seasons that water necessity is low. Related to the summer sugar beet for studying the possibility of winter sugar beet in the south of Khorasan Razavi province ,this Research was done during 2008 and 2009 in Bardaskan .Three factors were studied for evaluation of the possibility contain : sowing date, harvesting date and variety. Analysis of variance showed significant effects for sowing date and variety in root yield, white sugar. Yield, bolting percentage, sugar content, purity and molasses sugar. harvesting date had significant effects on all traits except purity .Interaction of sowing date × harvesting date had significant effect for all traits except root yield and bolting percentage .also Interactions of sowing date × variety for all traits and harvesting date x variety for all trades were significant except purity . White sugar yield was high at the 20 September sowing date and 5 June harvesting date with the Suprima and Giada varieties, the high amount of bolting percentage was at this dates in susceptible variety to bolting.
