Evaluation of quality and quantity of sugar beet mongerm ommercial varieties in different climates of the country.

In order to get information on quantitative and qualitative characters of sugar beet monogerm commercial varieties as well as new breeding cultivars, this study was conducted in 1386 with 12 commercial monogerm varieties and tow foreign monogerm cultivars at seven locations of different climatic conditions including Karaj(cold and dry), Mashad (temperates), Hamadan(cold), Miandoab(semicold), Moghan specific conditions), Makoo(cold and moist), Kerman(hot and dry). The experiment was laid out as a complet block with four replications. Also in Karaj , 10 monogerm and five multigerm cultivars were grown in an aera at 1000 and 500 m2 respectivly, as demonstration trial and their performance were recorded. Analisis of variance was carried out for each locatin separetly. Also, multiple analysis of variance was carried out using the data of each region. According to the results of the trials for white sugar yield , the variety Dorotea performed better than the others in Karaj. In Mashad, the cultivars did not show significant difference although Dorotea was uppearantly superior. In Miandoab, another cultivar Rhizofort performed better than the others. In Kerman and Makoo (as a new sugar beet production area) difference between cultivars was not significant, but cultivars Zarghan and Rasoul were uppearantly superior. The highest sugar yield in Moghan belonged to the cultivar Orbis. In the demonstration trial of Karaj, Rhizofort (monogerm) and new hybrid (A37.1*I13)*Bulk shiraz were superior than other cultivars. Multiple analysis of variance showed significant difference between locations for all qualitative and quantitative characteristics. According to the results, Mashad was very suitable area for white sugar yield production. Also, results showed significant difference between varieties. the variety Dorotea performed better than the other cultivars. Based on the results, interaction between variety and location was significant for root yield, white sugar yield, potassium, extraction coefficient of sugar and molasses sugar.
