Avian fauna of Klias Forest Reserve, Beaufort, Sabah

Three 5-days avian surveys were carried out at Klias Forest Reserve (KFR), Beaufort, Sabah. Five line transect were constructed in the 3,630 ha protected forest reserve and observations were made visually and through sound. In total, 83 species of birds were recorded. Together with earlier records, the total species of birds for KRF is 133. In this report, list of the birds is given and discussion are made on these aspects: (1) density, (2) distribution and abundance, (3) ecological importance and (4) conservation status, which take into account the existence of human settlement around KFR.
