Glucose affected milk yield of sows via lactose synthesis. The increase in milk yield of sows might improve the growth performance of piglets. This study there for aimed toinvestigate the survival and growth of piglets from the sow infused with 100 ml of glucose solution via ear vein. Thirty-eight sows at farrowing of landrace and large white breeds were used in this study. Two sows of the same breed with similar parity and litter size were chosen as a pair. The infusion of 100 ml of glucose solution via ear vein was assigned to one of each pair randomly, while another was used as a control. It was found that, no effect of glucose infusion to the sow (P>0.05) on piglet survival rate, 87% for control group and 87% for treatment group. The average weight gain between birth and weaning (28 days) of control group (5.2 kg) was not significantly different (P>0.05) from 4.9 kg of treatment group. The finding of this stuudy indicated that the infusion of glucose to the sow after farrowing was not beneficial, since it did not improve the performance of piglets.
