Performance of kam-long to chicken dung and bio-liquid fertilizers

A study was conducted to evaluate the performance of kamlong to chicken dung and bio-liquid fertilizers at Roxas, Isabela [Philippines] from March 10 to June 16, 2011 laid out in 4 x 2 factorial experiment in RCBD three replications. Six treatments namely: non-grafted Condor Atlas (T1); non-grafted Condor avatar (T2); Condor Atlas grafted onto eggplant rootstock (T3) and Condor Avatar grafted onto eggplant rootstock as the Factor A; 5 tons chicken dung with bio-liquid fertilizer per hectare (F2) that composed the Factor B. The average plant height at 20, 40 and 60 days after transplanting, diameter of fruits, number of fruits per plot, fresh weight per fruit as well as per plot significantly varied between varieties and levels of chicken dung with bio liquid fertilizers The non-grafted Atlas variety consistently produced the tallest plants. However, the Avatar variety obtained bigger fruit diameter, most number of harvested fruits, and heaviest weight per fruit and per plot. Likewise, plant height, fruit diameter, number of fruits per plot, as well as fresh weight per fruit and per plot was affected by the levels of chicken dung with bio-liquid fertilizers. Plants applied with 10 tons chicken dung with bio-liquid fertilizers per hectare consistently produced taller plants, bigger fruit diameter, more number of fruits and heavier weight per fruit and per plot. The combination of Factor A and Factor B (TxF) did not affect the plant height, diameter of fruits as well as the fresh weight per fruit. However, differences were noted in the number of fruits per plot and the fresh weight of fruits per plot. The grafted Avatar variety applied with 10 tons chicken dung with bio-liquid fertilizers per hectare obtained the highest yield and return on investment (ROI). Hence, the combination of these treatments is recommended.
