Thrips tabaci is major pest on onion and other species of Allium crops in the world. Chemical control of T. tabaci is a conventional control measure in onion fields. The purpose of this study was to find efficacy of Protus® on thrips. Therefore, 9 treatments with 4 replications were conducted in randomized complete block design for one years in three provinces, Azarbayjanshargi, Khozestan and Esfahan. Insecticides were following: 1.thiachlopride + deltamethrin (Protus® OD 11%) 2. diazinon EC 60% 3.cypermtrin EC 10% 4.check ( without any control methods). All of the insecticides were tested as only and mixed by a product as sticking agent with 0.5g L-1 .Efficacy of treatments was determined the days after first and several applications. The results showed that in Azarbayjanshargi province Proteus® (63.89%) and diazinon(39.55%) in Esfahan Proteus®( 82.32%) and diazinon (54.7%)and in Khozestan Proteus® ( 80.11%) and diazinon plus sticking agent(51.7%) had the highest and lowest efficacy in the experiments. Protus® with 1 & 0.7 ml L-1 as new insecticides were as effective as conventional insecticides. Using sticking agent with insecticides could not significantly increase in the efficacies. Thus imidaclopride, and Protus® 0.7 ml L-1 can be used for controlling onion thrips.
