Vegetation cover of arid and desert areas are mainly halophyte plants. these plants are impotant in terms of feed resource for domestic animal such as sheep, goat and camel in the mentioned areas. an experinent was conducted to determine the nutritive value of 5 halophyte plants including: Gamanthus gamocarpus (G.ga), Petrosimonia halimium (P.ha), Salsola crassa (C.cr), Halotis occulta (H.oc) and Halocaris sulphurea (H.su). The chemical composition, digestability (the two stage (in-vitro) technique], dry matter consumptin [ad-libitum], animal preference and palatability ratio [cafeteria fashion] were measured by sheep. the results in dieated that (H.su), (H.oe) and (P.ha) have higher digestabitiy in dry material, in organic matter and in organic matter of dry meterial than (G.ga) and (S.cr), (P0/05). the dry matter consumptin (H.sa) and (S.cr) were higher than other plants (P0/05). In this experiment, animal perefered (G.ga) and (S.cr) higher than other plants, while the lowest preference was be long to(H.oc).
