Evaluation of quantitative and qualitative characters of clones of true potato seed progenies in Ardabil.

An experiment conducted for study on possiblity of uses from true potato seed for given suitable hybrids pay attention to agronomic characters, marketable and adaptation to climatic conditions of Ardabil area in Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Center of Ardabil for three years. 2400 selected clones from seven family of true potato seed ( Granola, Ceaser, Roster, Cara, Bamba, T2999/4 and T2704/1) planted by density of 25Χ75 centimeters. Clones selected after evaluation for agronomic characters on the basis traits namely external attractiveness of tuber, yield of single plant, eye depth, tuber uniformity, tuber skin color, tuber number and tuber size, and selected 243 clones in 2005 year. Selected clones planted in an augmented statistic design in 2006 year. This experiment had 9 block and 27 clones with five control varieties (Agria, Granola, Ceaser, Sante and Kenebec) placed at random in each block. ANOVA results of base design for characters showed that differences between total tuber yield, marketable tuber yield, tuber number and tuber weight per plant were significant. After study, 24 clones selected. Selected clones had 8.3–23.2 tuber number, 1578–2039 g tuber weight per plant, 84.2–108.7 ton/ha total tuber yield, 79.7–105.8 ton ha-1 marketable tuber yield, 39.25–64.25 cm plant height and 2–8 main stem number. These clones had suitable external attractiveness, uniformity, eye depth of tuber; tuber skin colors were yellow and red; and their meat colors were light and dark yellow. In the 2007 year, selected clones planted in a non-replicated experiment and all of clones were compared with Agria variety (control) by use of curve drawing. Five clones selected from them after investigation of tuber yield, dry matter percent, tuber number and weight per plant. Selected clones that were from Ceaser, Kara and Ruster family, had 8-14.67 tuber number, 766.7-1298.3 g tuber weight per plant, 40.89-69.24 ton ha-1 tuber yield, 40.40-66 cm plant height and 3-9.67 main stem number per plant.
