Study of water holding in pod development stage for selecting of soybean (Glycine max (L.) merr.) tolerant cultivars to water deficit

Interaction of soybean cultivars and lines were studied in two separated experiments at Soil and Water institute, Karaj in 1379. Eight cultivars and lines as Clark, Williams, M4, Columbus, S.R.F. ζ 450 L11 were set at two water conditions and arranged in two RCBDs. In control condition, plots irrigated, when soil available water got 50% and in water deficit stress, plots were irrigated when soil available water got 20% at pod development stage. The results were indicated that water deficit stress at pod development stage caused to decrease vegetative characteristics as pod development stage duration, nod number and internodes distance. The seed yield was decreased as 52%. Cultivars and lines had significant effect on pod development stage duration, height and branch number per plant. The highest yield was belonged to M4 (2230 kg.ha-1) that was due to high seed weight. Comparison of stress and cultivar interaction levels indicated that cultivars response to stress was different. The yield response factor (KY) was evaluated for cultivars. S.R.F. 450 and M12 were the highest sensitivity and tolerance to water deficit, respectively. There was not any significant correlation between KY and yield in control and water deficit conditions. There was significant correlation between GMP and STI with yield in two water conditions. Therefore, M4 and Clark were superior to others.
