This study was conducted in three years from 1998 to 2000 at Safi Abad gricultural Reaserch Center of Dezful,Iran. in order to evaluate and determine the quantitative and qualitative yield loss of sugar beet due to the delaying of harvest also time intervals between harvesting operation procedures. The experimental design was a randomized complete block in 16 treatments and four replications. Data subjected to analysis of variance and tretment means were separated using protected least significant difference at the 0.05 level of probability. Root yield was significantly different between treatments. Plot treted with chapper, topper and sugar beet roots remained on the rows for 48 h before harvest with 62.8 t/ha of root yield had the highest root weight loss, and compared to the treatment without delaying in harvesting had 27.5 % of root yield reduction. There was a significant difference in percent sucrose. Plot with 48 hand 24 h delaying in harvest had the highest and lowest level of percent sucrose respectively. Plot with 24 of harvest delaying with 15.48 % percent sucrose had the highest level of sucrose reduction compared to the other treatments. Eff eet of treatments on white sugar, sodium, a- amino nitrogen and purity were not significant, but it was signifieant on the sugar content of moulases. The interaction effect of year by treatments was not significant.
