Fast growing species need to be introducing in order to sustain wood industry sector in Malaysia. Mahang Kapur is a fast growing tropical species which had potential to be developed as a raw material. Malaysia needs to explore new wood composite product in order to replace the old types of wood composite which have high production cost. Oriented Strand Board (OSB), the most recent development in wood based panel products is ready to replace the more traditional plywood in many applications including uses where structural strength is required. The main purpose of this study was to determine the mechanical (MOE, MOR and IB) and physical (Water Absorption) properties of OSB from Mahang Kapur wood with a density of 600 Kg.m3 and two (2) different resin content (5% and 7%). Result showed that all OSB specimens from Mahang Kapur wood meet the minimum requirement of mechanical and physical properties for BS EN 300: 1994 and MS 544 (General purpose OSB for used in service class I and II condition). It is recommended that OSB from Mahang Kapur wood at 600kg/m3 with resin content of 5% had the potential to be commercialized.
