Zooplankton composes inalienable part of natural feeding base of fishery ponds in the process of fish stock growing. Use of natural live feeds positively influences metabolic processes of fish larvae, activates biochemical processes and forms enzyme system of the fish organism, stimulating future digestion of artificial feeds. The article present the results of the research of nursery ponds zooplankton, used for natural feeding of large carp breeding material. The scheme of fish stocking of experimental ponds with large carp fingerlings is displayed; zooplankton species composition of experimental ponds is analyzed; taxonomic structure of zooplankton is shown. Dynamics of the zooplankton development in experimental ponds is evaluated. Average seasonal characteristics of zooplankton biomass, number and productivity are calculated. Feeding efficiency of zooplankton for growing of large carp fingerlings in experimental nursery ponds is analyzed, live weight gain of large carp fingerlings for a season (120 days) is measured.
