In this study yield and agronomic traits of 34 new sunflower single cross hybrids accompanied by check cultivar Alstar were evaluated in Khoy agricultural and natural resources research station in 2006 .These hybrids had been produced via crossing between new restorers and CMS lines in 2005. The experiment was executed as 6x6 simple lattice design with two replications. Each plot was included of 4 rows each 4 meters with 60 and 25 cm space between and within rows respectively. Planting was done on 30th of May 2006. According to the results hybrids R23 x CMS330, R50 x CMS222, R46 x CMS354 and R23x CMS354 with seed yield more than 4300 kg/hac were superior than check variety Alstar with seed yield 4230 kg/hac. The hybrid R21x CMS354 with seed and oil yield 4089 and 2171 kg/hac respectively and having growing period of 101 days was the most preferable early mature hybrid. While having high seed yield and 1000 seed weight (76gr) R23 x CMS354 had the highest oil content (49.67%) and had suitable plant height (184cm) too. Growing period of this hybrid was 106 days and belong to early mature groups. These desirable characteristics make it a superior distinct hybrid in this study. Just there after R23xCMS330 because of having high seed yield (4663kg/hac) and 1000 seed weight (78gr) was the other desired hybrid. Restore line R23 had the highest GCA for seed yield and its component. Among testers CMS354 had the highest GCA for seed and oil yield.
