Faunistic study of planthoppers (Auchenorryhncha: Fulgoromorpha) of South Eastern Iran (Kerman and Sistan- Baluchestan provinces, region 9 of agricultural division

Planthoppers are small insects, belonging to the infraorder Fulgoromorpha which cause economic damages and transmit diseases to plants by sucking their saps. In this study, some specimens of this infraorder were collected from Sistan va Baluchestan and Kerman provinces in Southeastern Iran and were identified along with other specimens in Hayk Mirzayans Insect Museum. A total of 14 families and 93 species of planthoppers were listed resulted from the identifications and also previously published records. Three species: Eurychila pantherina (Horvath, 1891), Tettigometra vitellina Fieber, 1865 and Tettigometra varia Fieber, 1865 are recording for the first time form the studied area, two species: Hyalesthes zabolicus Dlabola, 1985 and Bostaera bolivari (Melichar, 1901) are first records for Kerman province and two other species: Laodelphax striatellus (Fallιn, 1826) and Ommatissus lybicus Bergevin are first records for Sistan va Baluchesan province. The two latter species, along with 5 other species are known as pests in agricultural and Wood ecosystems of Iran. Then the distribution map for the species and the identification keys to families and subfamilies of planthoppers in Southeastern Iran was prepared and submitted.
