Cucumbers are one of the most popular vegetable crops in Latvia. To obtain high yields, high temperatures and soil moisture are required. To change the growing conditions, different mulches can be used. The field trials were located in Atputa, Svete parish, Jelgava Municipality in 2014 and 2015. The research was carried out to find out the effect of coloured plastic mulch on the yield formation of cucumbers. Cucumber cultivars ‘Pioneer’ F1 and ‘Madita’ F1 were grown on the yellow, white, blue, red and black film. A non-mulched bed was used for the control samples. The results showed that there is a significant difference between cucumber cultivars ‘Pioneer’ F1 and ‘Madita’ F1. The cucumber cultivar ‘Pioneer’ F1 was more productive than the cultivar ‘Madita’F1. The lowest yield was harvested from cucumbers grown on the white film in 2014. The temperature was lower by 3.9 11.1% under the white film in comparison with the control sample. The highest yield was obtained from cucumbers grown on the yellow and blue film.
