The paper is focused on selected morphometric and ecological characteristics of species as well as composition of the herb layer in stands with Colutea arborescens in PLA Cerová highlands (protected landscape area of volcanic origin and with specific thermophilic flora and fauna). Phytosociological relevés were made in terms of Zurich-Montpellier school using the Braun-Blanquet scale. Herb layer areas with Colutea arborescens occurrence consists of only few species. The coverage is in the range between 20 and 65%. From the morphometric point of view, Colutea arborescens individuals are 1.2 to 2.5 m high. The number of twigs increases with individuals’ height.
