Model illustration of mechanical behavior of bulk sunflower seeds under compression loading

The study investigated the tangent model representation of mechanical behaviour of bulk Sunflower (Helianthus annus L.) seeds of moisture content 12.37±0.38 (% w b) using compressive device (Tempos, model ZDM 50, Czech Republic) and pressing vessel diameter 60 mm with a plunger. Oil point and percentage oil yield were also described. Compressive force between 50 and 110 kN and speed between 10 and 100 mm/min under the temperature of 20 °C were applied on bulk Sunflower seeds measured at height 80 mm. The tangent model applicable in Mathcad 14 software was illustrated the mechanical behaviour of bulk Sunflower seeds as a TanCur (Tangent Curve) model. The tangent model dependent on force and deformation coefficients of mechanical behaviour suitably described the experimental data. The fitted model was dependent on force and deformation coefficients of mechanical behaviour of the model.
