Gliadin and glutenin polymorphism in durum wheat landraces and breeding varieties of Azerbaijan
2015
Sadigov, Hamlet Baykishi (Genetic Resources Institute of ANAS, Baku (Azerbaijan))
Durum wheat genotypes including 7 landraces and 17 breeding varieties\nwere studied. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis under acidic conditions\nof pH 3.1 was used to study gliadin and glutenin polymorphisms. In\ntotal, 32 gliadin and 8 high molecular weight glutenin alleles were\nidentified. The contribution of B genome (58.5%) to the allelic\nvariation of durum wheat varieties was higher than of A genome. The\ncluster analysis delineated genotypes into four main clusters. According\nto cluster analysis, legitimacy identifying the distribution of\nbotanical varieties through the tree was observed. The study confirms\nthe suitability of biochemical markers for cultivar identification and\ngenetic relation study in durum wheat genotypes.
