The aim of this study was to determine the antibiotic resistance pattern of E.coli isolated from fecal samples of diarrheic piglets in Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Dak Lak provinces. A total of l44 E.colistrains were isolated and used to investigate the degree of antibiotic resistance to 11 antibiotic agents. The results showed that most of E.coli isolates were multi-antibiotic resisiance. The E.coli isolates showed high resistance pattern totetracycline, cefuroxim, amoxicillin and TMP/SMX in the three provinces. The prevalences of resistance to above four antibiotics were 80.56% for TMP/SMX, 81.94% for cefuroxim, 84.72% for tetracycline and amoxicillin. With 100% E.coli isolates resistant to amoxicillin, this antibiotic agent had no effect on prevention and treatment ofdiarrheic disease in pigletsin Quang Binh province. The results also indicated that cephalexin and tobramycin had high inhibitory effect on E. coli in three sampling provinces. The prevalences of sensitivity to cephalexin and tobramycin in the sampling provinces were 85.29% and 67.65% (in Quang Binh), 81.58% and 89,47% (in Quang Tri), 79.17% and 97.22% (in Dak Lak), respectively. The relative high percentages of isolates that resistant to gentamicin and norfloxacin were also observed in Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Dak Lak provinces.
