Using geographic information systems to assess pesticide risks to groundwater.
2007
Salvucci, A. E. | Walter, M. T.
The increasing availability and subsequent use of geographic information system (GIS) technologies has shifted groundwater risk assessment from site-specific or field-scale analyses to watershed- and regional-scale evaluations. This review recognizes two primary categories of pesticide risk assessment: namely, vulnerability-index methods and physically-based simulation models. The critical challenge to future advances of groundwater risk assessment will be improving our understanding of how critical flow parameters are spatially distributed, especially potentially transient features such as macropores.
