Mīkstgliemežu dzimtas sugu nozīme lauksaimniecībā un pirmās ziņas par Krynickillus melanocephalus Kaleniczenko, 1851 (Gastropoda: Agriolimacidae) kaitējumu dārzkopībā Latvijā

The pest status of Krynickillus melanocephalus was confirmed for the first in Latvia, when slugs fed with pumpkin fruit, but further research on its economic importance is necessary. Up to date only two members from Agriolimacidae – Krynickillus melanocephalus and Deroceras reticulatum – have been confirmed as pests in agriculture. During studies, in 2016 campaign for citizens were provided when land owners were asked to report on slugs in their gardens and fields. The first experience gave also first valuable results, however activity from citizens were low and involving of population in citizen science should be more popularised and activated in Latvia.
