Assessment of growth, productivity and quality of Lillum longiflorum L. in response to application of macro and micro nutrients
2013

The present research was carried out in green house, Floriculture Research Area, Institute of Horticulture Sciences, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad during 2012-2013. This work was designed to investigate the effect of NPK application in soil and foliar application of micro nutrients solution (2%Zn, 1%Mn, 1%Fe, 0.5%Cu) on growth, productivity and quality of Lilium (Lilium longiflorum L.). Different treatments of macro and micro nutrients were used to inspect the variation in different morphological characteristics of Lilium. For this purpose, plants of Lilium (Lilium longiflorum L.) were sown on ridges according to Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD), with six treatments and three replications of each treatment. There were five plants per replication for each treatment planted at plant to plant and row to row distance of one and three feet, respectively. The growth parameters were recorded and statistically analyzed at 5 % level of significance. The treatment means were compared by DMR test. After the statistical analysis it was found that as compared to control when different treatments were applied, the plants showed variations in their height, number of leaves per plant, stem diameter, stalk length, flowers size, fresh weight of flower, dry weight of flower, tepal diameter, vase life, number of bulblets per clump, bulblet diameter, weight of bulblets per clump. The results depicted that Lilium performed better for above mentioned parameters in response to the application of 15 gm NPK/12.5sqft along with three sprays of micronutrients solution (2%Zn, 1%Mn, 1%Fe, 0.5%Cu) @ 6 ml/L under green house conditions.
