in the article the phenomenon of hydronemic universalism in the nomadic and semi-nomadic population of Eurasia is considered: the name of the rivers by the types of domesticated animals. The manifestations of this tradition among the Indo-Iranian and Turkic population of the steppe and forest-steppe belt of Eurasia are traced, the reasons for the emergence and form of existence of this universal in nomadic and semi-nomadic societies for millennia are analyzed. The main examples are given from the territory of the Middle Volga region, indicating hydronic parallels in other regions.
