Participatory variety techno-demo (PVTD) trials cum variety selection (PVS) of salt tolerant rice varieties, Salinas, were conducted in Barangay [village] Ibona, Dingalan, Aurora, January-May 2016 and Barangay Cabarian, Ligao City, Albay, October 2016- February 2017. Field performance of 20 Salinas varieties in Salino-prone pilot siTE-S was evaluated in PVTD and most preferred varieties identified through PVS. Variety X site interaction was significant such that yielding ability of a variety varied with growing environment. In Dingalan, Salinas yielded 3.060-5.092 t/ha averaging 4.100+-0.523 t/ha, while farmers' variety, GSR SA, had 4.174 t/ha grain yield. A range of 7.8 to 35.1% higher yield was obtained in 14 better performing varieties in Dingalan, while 6 varieties yielded 3.2-18.2% higher in Ligao City. Top ranking varieties, Salinas 8 (5.092 t/ha) and Salinas 17(5.008 t/ha), yielded significantly higher than GSR SA by 22% (0.918 t/ha) and 20% (0.834 t/ha), respectively. In Ligao City, Salinas yielded 3.054-4.248 t/ha averaging 3.522 +- 0.344 t/ha, while farmers' variety, Tubigan 16 by 21% (0.707 t/ha) and 28% (0.916 t/ha), respectively. There were no top yielding varieties common in PVTD siTE-S, indicating location specificity of adaptability and yielding ability of a variety. During farm walk, farmers evaluated and selected their most preferred varieties according to their criteria. Salinas 5 and 18 were preferred by farmers in both siTE-S. The farmers' criteria for preferred varieties common to both siTE-S include: long and dense paniclo, good crop stand and plant type, disease resistant and lodging resistant, according to order of importance. A preferred variety is likely high yielding. Twenty-one Ligao farmers were provided with 2kg of five varieties (Salinas 2, 5, 10, 18, 19) of their choice for seed multiplication
