Falcon state is located northwest of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in which they developed a multispecies fishery regulated by official regulations and self-management systems differ. Despite two attempts by management interference problems exist due to fishing and other anthropogenic activities. This study aims to fully characterize the fisheries of the state of Falcon, Venezuela, in order to generate useful scientific basis for effective fisheries management. The methodology involves participatory techniques for the identification of the pleasures of fishing areas to zone the same way using the tool of Geographic Information System (GIS), complemented with a diagnosis of local knowledge from artisan communities in the area, in order to analyze local fisheries to study the possibility of assigning Territorial Use Rights in Fisheries (TURF’s), thus forming a tool that allows validating the lore. The data will be analyzed using nonparametric statistical methods (univariate and multivariate) and spatial qualitative interpretation of the empirical data collected.
