The present paper represents a synthesis of some investigations with reference to the genetic diversity of broomrape populations on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. Based on the morphological (parameters of broomrape seeds) and molecular data (SSR and ISSR), various biostatistical analysis has been done using different methods (InfoStat, XLSTAT 2014.5.03), as well as Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Mantel test to assess the level of correlation between the studied parameters and Tukey’s test of statistical significance. The correlative association between dissimilarity matrices in 38 populations of O. cumana Wallr. belonging from naturaly infested sunflower fields has highlighted the race H with high and medium degree of congruence of morphometric (broomrape seed parameters) and molecular data (SSR and ISSR). The absence of significant correlations in the most of cases of comparisons between populations belonging to the race E, F or G suggests that genetic divergence is mainly determined by the racial status and less by the geographical area. Combined use of genotyping techniques with multi-locus dominant markers (ISSR) and multi-allelic co-dominants (SSR) revealed a higher level of genetic divergence between the physiological races, than between each population. 49 references, 4 tables, 7 Figures.
