Over the last years, dying broadleaf trees and shrubs have been observed in urban areas in Serbia. The trigger mechanism of the die-back appeared to be a combination of abiotic factors and opportunistic infections caused by Botryosphaeriaceae fungi. Disease symptoms and signs included necrotic lesions and holes in leaf, leaf blight, cankers and necrotic lesions on stems and branches, stem die-back, reddish-brown or dark brown discoloration of sapwood, and the occurrence of Botryosphaeriaceae pycnidia in the diseased bark. The aim of the paper was to summarize the current state of knowledge of the diseases caused by Botryosphaeriaceae species on broadleaves in Serbia.
