General indicators of medicinal plants used in empirical and traditional medicine in Gardabani District.

The project that deals with the estimation of the plant diversity in Gardabani Municipality and revealing of the rare and critically endangered plants was implemented by the researchers of the Medicinal Plants Sector of the National Botanical Garden of Georgia in 2011-2016. The botanically distinguished refigium Gardabani region (municipality) is rather interesting object of research, where different floristic complexes are represented: semi-desert (desert), steppe, phryganoid, forest (temperate, broad-leaved), meadow, loose rock, riparian, floodplain forest and marshy. As a result of the conducted botanical research/mpnitoring, a diverse and rich floristic composition of medicinal plants used in empirical and traditional medicine was revealed there. Particularly diverse and numerous species are found in forests, forest glades, places close to forests. Of no less interest is the flora of woodless areas: steppes, rocky and clay hills, loose rocks, where numerous xerophytes adapted to high air and soil temparatures and thirtst are found.
