A field experiment was conducted during rabi season 2014-15 at the N.E. Borlaug Crop ResearchCentre of the G.B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar to study the effect ofdifferent fertility levels on growth, yield attributes, yield and quality of Indian mustard (Brassicajuncea L.) cultivar RGN-73. Treatment consisted of three levels of nitrogen (60, 80 and 100 kg/ha),two levels of phosphorus (20 and 40 kg/ha) and two levels of potassium (0 and 30 kg/ha) wereevaluated thrice in a randomized block design. Application of 100 kg N + 40 kg P2O5 + 30 kg K2O/ha produced significantly higher seed yield (1925 kg/ha) and other growth and yield attributes viz.dry matter accumulation (42.6 g/plant), primary branches/plant (8.4), secondary branches/plant(9.3), siliquae/plant (256.6), seeds/siliqua (13.8), length of siliqua (4 cm), 1000-seed weight (3.9gram), stover yield (7638 kg/ha), biological yield (9525 kg/ha), oil yield (715 kg/ha) and proteinyield (401 kg/ha) as compared to application of 60 kg N + 20 kg P2O5 + 0 kg K2O/ha. Effect ofdifferent fertility levels on plant height, leaf area index, crop growth rate, relative growth rate, oiland protein content was found to be non-significant. Maximum plant height (200.3 cm), leaf areaindex (0.7), crop growth rate (0.046 g/m2/day), relative growth rate (2.71 mg/g/day) and proteincontent (20.8%) was found with application of 100 kg N + 40 kg P2O5 + 30 kg K2O/ha and lowestwith application of 60 kg N + 20 kg P2O5 + 0 kg K2O/ha but maximum oil content was found (38.2%)under the application of 80 kg N + 40 kg P2O5 + 30 kg K2O/ha. Hence, the farmers could economicallybenefited by using Indian mustard cultivar RGN-73 with recommended doses of fertilizers.
