An experiment was conducted during Kharif 2013 and 2014 to find out field efficacy of newer diamide molecule against Spodoptera litura in soybean. Results revealed that the tetraniliprole @ 50 g a.i./ha or 60 g a.i./ha was the most effective dose followed by tetraniliprole @ 40 g a.i./ha or chloranthraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 30 g a.i./ha, which was significantly superior to triazophos 40 EC @ 250 g a.i./ha and untreated control. The pooled mean data of both the years on seed yield also showed similar results with an incremental yield of 11.2 and 13.8 q/ha for tetraniliprole @ 50 g a.i./ha and 60 g a.i./ ha, respectively over untreated control followed by chlorantraniliprole @ 30 g a.i./ha, tetraniliprole @ 40 g a.i./ha and triazophos @ 250 g a.i./ha with a mean seed yield of 11.5 to 18.4 q/ha and an incremental yield of 2.5 to 9.4 q/ha over untreated control. Tetraniliprole at higher doses did not show any phytotoxicity or adverse effect on natural enemies. So, this diamide molecule with a unique mode of action is effective against major insect pests of soybean which can be newer molecules for integrated resistance management programmes.
