Purine derivatives excretion and estimation of microbial nitrogen flows from the rumen of sheep and goats.

The relation between the amount of purine derivatives (PD) excreted in the urine and digestible organic matter intake (DOMI) was investigated in sheep and goats fed different levels of feed. The coefficients of DOMI in relation to PD of sheep and goats were similar. The calculated results indicated that the amounts of microbial nitrogen flow from the rumens of sheep and goats ere also similar.
