The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of heat treatment of lignosulfonate and soybean meal mixture on dry matter and protein degradation and protein fractionation. Soybean meal was mixed with 0, 5 and 10% lignosulfonate and heated at 95 degree celcius for 60min in a dry oven and their degradability was determined in an in vitro study. Adding 10% lignosulfonate resulted in significant increase of fraction C. Crude protein degradability was also decreased by adding 10% lignosulfonate during whole incubation period. Current results indicate that SBM treated with lignosulfonate and heated at 95 degree celcius for 60min was effective in reducing rumen degradation.
