Effect of lignite on yield and quality of oats (Avena sativa, L.)
2017
Slamka, Pavol | Ložek, Otto
In short–term combined pot–field experiment with oats (variety Valentín), an effect of lignite addition to DASA 26/13, DASAMAG 24/10–6MgO and MAGNISUL 21/10–5MgO, respectively, was tested. Addition of 1% of lignite to all tested fertilizers increased dry matter yield of aboveground phytomass of oats at growth stage of milk–wax ripeness by 1.8 to 4.6%. Addition of 3% of lignite was less effective. In consequence of lignite addition to examined fertilizers, uptake of respective nutrients by aboveground phytomass of oats as well as by oats grain was predominantly increasing. Fertilization increased grain yield of oats in comparison to unfertilized control by 4.0 to14.6%. Added lignite, particularly at 1% concentration, increased grain yield of oats by 0.8 to 7.8% in comparison with the same fertilizer but without addition of lignite. Fertilization of oats also increased significantly content of crude protein in grain compared to unfertilized treatment. In all three fertilizers, addition of 3% of lignite was more effective in this parameter than 1% lignite addition, and in the case of DASA and DASAMAG fertilizers it increased content of crude protein in comparison with the same fertilizers without lignite. In general, fertilization as well as lignite addition mostly aggravated physico–mechanical parameters of oats grain.
