The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of biochar (B) applied at different doses (0 t.ha-1, 10 t.ha-1 and 20 t.ha-1), on contents of macro and micronutrients in a silty loam Haplic Luvisol (Dolná Malanta, Slovakia) as well as in parts of maize plant. Application of 20 t.ha-1 of biochar had significant effects on increase of soil pH, total contents of Ca as well as available K and Zn in the soil. The content of total and available Mn and Ni in the soil significantly decreased under higher application dose of biochar compared to control (B0). Significantly lower Ca and Cu content was found in stalks of corn grown on the plots where biochar was applied at the dose of 20 t.ha-1 compared to treatment without biochar (B0). The application of biochar at both doses decreased significantly bioaccumulation of Ca in seeds of corn. The application of 10 t.ha-1 of biochar increased bioaccumulation of Ni in roots by 40%.
