In this study, germination tests were carried out in Suleyman Demirel University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Field Crops Cereals and Grain Legumes laboratory and the pot experiments were carried out in the same university's Agricultural Biotechnology Department laboratories during 2012-2013 years. Experiments were conducted according to Completely Randomized Plots Design with three replications established as laboratory and pot experiments. Effects of different chlorine salts to lentil (Lens esculanta Moench) on germination and seedling growth with seedling mineral contents were investigated. Three cultivars of green lentil (Ankara yeşili, Ceren and Meyveci 2001) and three cultivars of red lentils (Çiftçi, Kafkas and Özbek) were used. Different chloride salts (CaCl2, MgCl2 and NaCl) and 0 (distilled water), 5, 10 and 20 dS/m EC doses of these salts were applied to varieties of lentils.Analysis of the data; germination rate, germination index, shoot length, root length, shoot fresh, and dry weight, nitrogen, calcium, magnesium and potassium content of seedlings decreased with the increasing doses of the different salts of chlorine while the mean germination times, contents of sodium and chlorine of seedling increased. Differences between applications with interactions of all the characteristics apart from germination rate, root length and seedling fresh weight in the pot experiments were found statistically significant. According to mentioned characteristics, salt types and doses of salts responses of genotypes were different.According to the results obtained from the laboratory experiments, germination rates 83.83-99.33%, germination indexes 10.76-21.02, mean germination times 2.46-3.83 days, seedling height 3.87-5.97 cm, root height 2.57-5.63 cm, seedling fresh weight 0.62-1.38 g, 0.06-0.12 g dry weights of seedlings were found. In pot experiments ranged between the germination rates 95.11-100.00%, germination indexes 4.46-5.86, mean germination times of day 4.44-5.69, shoot length 18.26-27.09 cm, root length 10.05-15.99 cm, seedlings wet weights 1.81-3.69 g, dry weights of seedlings ranged from 0.16-0.31 gr. According to the nutrient contents of lentil seedlings were found as; nitrogen 3.59- 4.44%, sodium 0.039-1.589%, potassium 1.96-2.50%, calcium 1.124-1.389% magnesium 0.230-0.421% and chlorine 1.87-2.47%.When the research results were evaluated collectively, it was found that with an increase of three chlorine salt doses, in terms of germination characteristics, seedling growth and nutritional content adversely affected.
