The present study was carried out under AICRP on Agroforestry at UAS Dharwad, Karnataka to determine suitable Pongamia pinnnata seed source for agroforestry system. Eleven seed sources of P. pinnata, planted at 6 4 m duringyear 2006 in randomized block design with three replications and intercropped with soybean in kharif and safflower in rabi seasons, were evaluated for their carbon sequestration and economic potential. Findings reveal that carbon sequestered by RAK-89 seed source was maximum in above-ground (0.17), followed by litter component (0.172) and least in below-ground (0.04). The above-ground biomass, below-ground biomass and litter components accounted for about 82.5, 16.3 and 1.2% of total carbon sequestered in the experimental site. On economic evaluation of the system, income from Pongamia was higherfor RAK-05 + FC (Rs. 3352 ha-1 year-1) seed source. Total income from agroforestry system was highest in DPS-4 + FC (Rs. 54528 ha-1 year-1), followed by RAK-90 + FC (Rs. 51550 ha-1 year-1) and RAK-89 + FC (Rs. 51090 ha-1 year-1) and lowest in MTP-III + FC (Rs. 37856 ha-1 year-1).
