Restoration of biota in the ordinary chernozem by green manuring in the southern zone of the Republic of Moldova
2018
Senicovscaia, I.
The restoration of biota’s state of the ordinary chernozem located in the southern zone of the Republic of Moldova has been investigated in connection with the application of vetch as a green fertilizer. Sampling was carried out in test cuts from 0-10, 10-20 and 20-30 cm layer separately. The effect of green manure was manifested in the rise of the number and biomass of invertebrates and Lumbricidae family by 1.4-1.8 times and in the increase of share of the Lumbricidae family in the total biomass of invertebrates by 20.7 %. Vetch as a green manure increases the bioactivity of the upper layers of the soil. The microbial carbon content in the 0-10 cm layer of the ordinary chernozem has grown by 27.7 %, its reserves – by 15.4 % on the plot under green manure use. A significant enhancement in the activity of phenoloxidases has been recorded in all arable layer of the soil. Management with the green manuring for the biota’s restoration of degraded ordinary chernozems and for the improvement of soil quality and environment has been recommended.
