The main aim of this study was to assess the water quality of the marsh-wetland ecosystem of Zasavica based on diatom communities. Phytobenthos samples were collected in May and August 2018 and 2019 from two sampling sites. A total of 131 diatom taxa were identified. The invasive species Diadesmis confervacea was identified in three samples, with a relative abundance of 16.66 to 74.75%. Based on the values of most diatom indices, the water of Zasavica can be characterized as water of medium quality. The values of Rott TI and TDI mainly indicated the poor water quality of Zasavica.
