1984
Patchell, G. (Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Wellington (New Zealand). Fisheries Research Div.)
The Sealord vessel Akagi Maru under a charter-for-quota agreement with the New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, sailed for the west coast South Island hoki grounds for a stock assessment programme on July 5, 1984. The first four weeks of the survey were spent locating and charting the distribution of hoki and monitoring the turn-over of aggregations. This work was continued over the last two weeks, but acoustic surveys were also included. A total of 144 trawl shots were made between July 6 and August 14. This report presents interim results from the survey programme, excluding acoustic results.
