Five field experiments were conducted in soil naturally infested with Orobanche crenata in the governorates of Minia, Ismailiah, and Sharkiah, to study the effect of pronamide herbicide and the use of faba bean genotypes with differential resistance to Orobanche on parasite infestation and faba bean yield. One pronamide application at 9.52 kg/ha, one month after sowing the resistant variety Giza 402, gave good control of Orobanche, with a strong site effect on the response to pronamide application and varietal resistance. The magnitude and direction of interaction between herbicide and faba bean genotypes in affecting the level of Orobanche infestation and seed and straw yields of faba beans differed with sites suggesting that the resistance of the three commercial bean varieties to the parasite was altered with environment
