Alemán. Monitoring of nun-moth, Lymantria monacha L., was carried out on a former outbreak-area over the period 1976-1985 with the application of disparlure mounted on sticky tables. There was found a wide variation in the annual number of caught males, the maxima - sometimes over several years on the same trap - reached 2000-3000 males per trap, but no defoliation could be observed in surrounding crowns of Norway spruce. Therefore such amounts of males are considered as thresholds for a first warning. Further trials were carried out to apply disparlure for mating disruption and resulted in a significant reduction of population. The effectiveness was observed in the following year too
