Biogas and its potential in developing countries
1984
Taiganides, E.P.
Technologies to recover biogas energy, nutrients and water from agricultural wastes are highlighted with reference to experiences in the treatment of pig wastes from intensive farms in Singapore. Production of bacterial cells, algal cells or fungal cells for protein, from waste waters are examined and the bio-engineering parameters of animal wastes from pigs, hens, beef, sheep and dairy cattle are tabulated. Biogas production is not economically justified in isolation but as part of a system where it provides energy for removal of pollutants from waste water combined with resource recovery
