Effect of nitrogen levels in relation to age of seedlings and time of transplanting on the growth, yield and milling characteristics of rice
1987
Gill, P.S. | Shahi, H.N. (Punjab Agricultural Univ., Kapurthala (India). Rice Research Station)
In a 2-year experiment late transplanting (9 August) of 60-day-old seedlings showed a better utilization of N, resulting in high yield (23.1 q/ha) and early maturity (102 days) in 'PR 106' rice (Oryza sativa Linn.). The shorter field-life of rice would be effective in rice-wheat (Triticum aestivum Linn. emend, Fiori and Paol) rotations. The seedlings transplanted on 30 June gave higher yield (55.2 q/ha) coupled with milling rate than those transplanted on 20 July and 9 August
