Influence of growth regulators on seed germination and seedling growth of five cyclamen hybrids [Cyclamen persicum Mill. - emergence of seedlings above suface of the media; number of developed seedlings for each treatment in three replication calculated; determination of average seed germination percentage; analysis of variance - response of each cultivar to the treatments (Duncan's Multiple Range Test, 5% level)]

Soaking seeds of Cyclamen persicum Mill cvs "Polka", "Alouette", "Ibis", "Pastourelle" and "Bengali" in various rates of (GA3) indicated varietal response. For instance, (GA3) at 1, 3 and 5 ppm significantly gave 100% seed germination in "Polka" compared to 80% for the control. However, for "Bengali" (GA3) at 1 and 2 ppm significantly lowered germination to 65 and 60%, respectively while (GA3) at 3, 4, 5 and 10 ppm significantly lowered the percentage to 30%. For "Pastourelle", (GA3) at 1 ppm gave significantly germination percentage (95%) when compare1477d to (GA3) at 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 ppm and the control. For "Ibis" and "Alouette", (GA3) at 10 ppm was significantly inhibitory to germination where 65% and 35%, respectively was obtained when compared to lower (GA3) concentrations and the control. All (BA) concentrations were significantly inhibitory to germination in the five cvs of cyclamen compared to the controls. In addition, (BA) caused abnormality in seedling growth. The combination of (GA3) + (BA) as well as Promalin at all rates significantly inhibited cyclamen seed germination. The abnormality in seedling growth seems to be solely to
