Results indicated that grain yield of lentil was not affected by adding 30 kg N/ha but reduced by 9 and 28% due to the addition of 60 kg N/ha in Ramtha and M'shagar respectively. Whereas the yield of lentil increased by 6 and 15% in response to the addition of 40 kg phosphorus/ha in Ramtha and M'shagar re1857spectively. No yield response to higher rates of phosphorus fertilizers was recorded in Ramtha whereas there was 44% increase due to the addition of 80 kg P/ha in M'shagar. The effect of fertilization was more pronounced in the second year crop. The yields of barley and wheat were increased by 33% and 13% when 60 kg N/ha was added to the lentil in Ramtha and M'shagar respectively, whereas the increases due to the addition of 80 kg P/ha were 24% and 45% in the two locations respectively. The higher amounts of residual nitrogen and phosphorus were found in the soil after lentil-barley and the lowest values were after the fallow-barley rota
