This study was undertaken to facilitate the marketing of sycamore wood. A sample of 151 trees were felled, their diameters and heights ranged from 5.4-31.5cm, 8.3-24.1m respectively, stepwise and multiple regressions were used to develop 7 equations, the dependent variables were W, D** (2)/W and Log W, while the independent variables were D, H in their original and transformed and combined forms, and in others the volume in both forms comprised the independent variables. After screening the developed equations the following one were selected as it gave the best fit compared to the remaining equations: W= 27.29 + 1069.6 V - 139.37 V** (2) + 47.32 Log V + 16.98 (log V** (2)). It may be concluded that the equations having D and H or their combinations as independent variables were generally inferior in precision as compared to those in which V or its different transformations were used as independent variables
