The effect of nitrogen and nitropyrin on vegetative growth of corn Zea mays L.

The results indicated that nitropyrin alone or combined with urea inhibited the nitrification more efficiently in the soil than control treatment, as the available NH4-N was significantly increased while NO3-N decreased. The results also indicated that the use of nitropyrin alone or combined with nitrogen had significantly increased the plant height, the forage and dry matter of corn along with nitrogen concentration in plant tissues and N-uptake. The best results were obtained with the application of 80 kg N/ha urea combined with 0.5 kg/ha of nitropyrin
