Stamopoulos, D.C. (Thessaloniki Univ. (Greece). Lab. of Applied Zoology and Parasitology)
Adults of the bean weevil Acanthoscelides obtectus Say of a laboratory strain, were subjected to LL,20L:4D, 8L:16D, 4L:20D, DD at a constant temperature of 28 (+-) 1 degree C and a relative humidity of 75 (+-) 10 per cent. It seems that a long scotophase, increases fecundity, egg hatchability, number and weight of the emerged adults, and decreases larval mortality und duration of post-embryonic development. Continuous light greatly affected the sex ratio in favor of males
